Description: Maltese breed is considered a popular breed. They are very affectionate,loving and could be a good companion. Their looks could be compared with that of a stuffed toy that makes them cute and huggable. They are small in size, an elegant looking dog with their long straight, silky, smooth hair. On their ears, you can see a lemon coloring. Their tail and ears are all covered with its thick long hair. Eyes are dark,round, deep set and large. they have long body with muzzle that tapers slightly, black nose and they look like floating on the floor with their very long, white like clouds straight hair.

Temperament: Maltese are a very alert, active and friendly pet. As puppies, they are lively, likes to play around. They are keen, cheerful and happy dogs. Maltese always enjoy the companion of children. Also, a loyal dog to their owners. With strangers, they are suspisious but they are really friendly if properly socialized for them to be able to recognize people around them. They are trusting and fearless as well. They can also be prone to be anxious if  alone for long periods of time, but always playful and fun. It may not tolerate younger children, but they get along great with older children.

Activity: Maltese will enjoy a walk or a run in the park as best exercise for them. They will also enjoy running in a safe open area. They are very active indoors.

Grooming: Proper coat care is required for the Maltese since they have long, straight hair. Shampoo once a week and daily brushing is important to maintain coat and prevent from matting. Clipping is also required for good grooming. Eyes and ears should be chaced for good hygiene and prevent infection. When properly groomed, they are a low shedder.

Health Problems: The life span of the Maltese is around 12-15 years, Some health problems they may encounter are: glaucoma, deafness, thyroid problems, low blood sugar, sensitivity to chemicals and drugs, dental problems, luxating patella, PRA, and entropion.
