Description: Great Dane breed is considered as a domestic dog breed. They are a giant breed among dog breeds. Very tall and muscular dog. They are an elegant looking breed, well built, very proportioned and balanced body. Head is rectangular in shape and is long. Its skull and muzzle must be balanced. They are very masculine. Deep set eyes, regular in size that has a cheerful and smart expression. Their ears are set high always alert and active, also regular in size. Their nose is black. Jaw is square with strong and well developed teeth in scissors bite. Their neck is stiff, also set high. And their coat is short, soft, thick and smooth in texture.

Temperament: Great danes are a giant dog but very friendly, loving and gentle. Also, they are known to be very affectionate and loves to play with children around them. They do not bark a lot depending on some situations. They needed a thorough obedience training in their younger stage. They should be well disciplined so they would know how to obey their owner properly. Owners should always impose on their dogs leadership so they would not dominate over you. They are also very protective of their homes and they could be a good guard dog. Moreover, they also need to be socialized with other pets and to the people around them so they may be able to easily adjust with the people around them.

Activity: They are required to have a daily exercise and a daily long walk for them to gain back their energy and be healthy.

Health: Owners should always ensure buying this kind of breed from a dedicated breeder since there are some who has poor health since they are not a kind of breed that could live longer. Life span is only about 10 years. Health issues for Great Danes are: hip dysplasia, bloat, tumors, heart disease, and tail injuries.

Grooming: This breed is not a heavy shedder. They only have short hair that is soft so it wouldn’t be much difficult to groom them. Brush them with firm bristle brush and batjhe them only when needed.

Dynamics: They are called as the “Apollo of all Dogs” crossed in Irish Greyhounds that is tall and slim today they are popularly known as the Great Dane. They possess special skills like carting, tracking and being a good watchdog. As Strangers would definitely be scared of them may it not be with their looks but specifically with their size and height.

Description: The Great Dane is known as a large dog and the tallest compared to other breeds they acquire a very strong muscles that makes them very athletic to create more strength and dignity. Their coat is compact,short and smooth that varies in color, could be fawn, brindle, black, blue, mantle harlequin and Merle. Head is long and narrow, eyes are dark and round that has an intelligent expression, ears are pointed and carried erect and teeth are well refined. Its neck is very strong and muscular as well and has a straight front legs. Moreover, They have brawny thighs with round, short feet and tail is regular in length, up to its joint in hind legs.

Temperament: The Great Dane is a gentle breed, also very loyal,sweet and kind. They deal well with children,always enjoy playing with them. They are loving that’s why they like to be around with people. Doesn’t bark too much, only becomes alert when required. But they are also brave and could be trained as watchdog. Since they are a giant size, the Great Dane should be properly trained to be obedient and should be done at an early age so it will be manageable when fully grown. This breed may be a little difficult to train.

Activity: For this breed, they require large yard because of their size. And they need a lot of daily exercise and long walk. They could be your best companion when you jog around.

Grooming: They are easy to groom because they have a smooth short hair so they don’t need heavy grooming. An occasional brushing to maintain the smoothness of coat Heavy brushing is needed only during heavy shedding and they only shed at certain times of the year.

Health Problems: Their life span is around 6-8 years. Health Problems with this breed includes: deafness, heart problems, bloat, HD, HOD, cataracts, and bone cancer. They sensitive to extreme heat or cold.
