Samoyed

Description: The Samoyed are has a strong and has a hardworking body. They are a friendly, good natured family pet, medium to large in size and has a beautiful white, compact smooth double coat. Their head comes in a wedge shaped with a black or brown nose and strong jaws. Eyes are dark, oblique deep set eyes with ears carried errect nad medium in size. The tail are hairy, long and rounded at point. Its feet are hairy and flat.

Temperament: This breed are a very friendly and gentle. Also very calm and dignified. A loyal dog and loves everybody. They fun to be with and playful. They are more likely to be an ideal pet dog than being a watchdog. but, they could bark to alert for the presence of strangers. Very sociable especially with children. They are highly intelligent, but sometimes tend to refuse on obedience training. Patient training would be best for them and should be done at an early age, and they could be an outstanding lively and sociable dog. They do not seek trouble but could handle such situation to some circumstances. They have the attitude of  being chewers and may be destructive if left alone for such a long period of time. Samoyeds could not be trusted with small non-canine pets, however most of them do get along well with family cats. This breed tends to bark a lot.

Activity: The Samoyed would do good in an apartment life, as long as they get enough exercise daily.  They are required to have enough exercise, especially a daily walk or jog. But take extra care on warm weather because the fluffy undercoat could give loss of heat built up during exercise.

Grooming: A thorough grooming is needed. They shed heavily by seasons. The fluffy double coat needs frequent brushing, but will remain to stay white without bathing.

Health Problems: The life expectancy of the Samoyed is around 12-15 years. Although they are a healthy breed, there are some health problems they might encounter: diabetes, cataracts, thyroid problems, HD, PRA, and allergies. Take care much care on hot weather and humid environments, since high temperatures will not do good because of his thick coat.

Saint Bernard

Description: The Saint Bernard is muscular and strong breed. The black shaded on their face and ears are very prominent that has an intelligent expression. They come either in long or short haired type of breed. Long haired ones,are regular in length coat and has coarse texture while The short haired has compact coat, which is also rough touch. Their feet is large and strong in proportion to their body. Also has a well-ached toes, that made them be confident in walking in snow and ice. Moreover, they possess a strong sense of smell that able to detect an upcoming storms and avalanches.

Temperament: This breed are very friendly and gentle dog, very tolerant to children as well. A loyal pet to their owner also slow moving, obedient and slow moving kind of dog. They drool after they drink or eat. But as early as possible, they should be trained to socialize with other people. Training this breed is easy since they are highly intelligent breed as long as their training should start on their early age. But the important thing to set in mind is that an unruly dog of this size presents a problem for even a strong adult if it is to be exercised in public areas on a leash. Also, they could be a good watchdog because their bark could alarm strangers.

Activity: They need a daily long walk and a fair amount of exercise. An opportunity to play around in a safe area will help to keep them fit and healthy. Some of the areas the Saint Bernard may excel in include hauling, and search and rescue

Grooming: Their coats are easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe only when necessary. Shampoo may strip the coat of its oily, water-resistant properties, so use a mild soap. The eyes, which may be inclined to water, need special attention to keep them clean and free of irritants. This breed sheds twice a year.

Health Problems: As a giant dog, the Saint Bernard has a fairly low life expectancy of around 8-9 years. There are also a number of health problems to look out for with this breed, and this includes ectropion, entropion, heart defects, cancer, bloat, epilepsy, HD, and OCD.

Description: The Rottweiler is an athletic with a muscular build, big breed. They have broad head and forehead in a rounded shape. Its eyes are dark and very expressive. The ears are triangular in shape, that is brought forward, nose are black and wide. Their muzzle are in scissors bite and well developed. Lips are dark as well as the inside part of their mouth. They have short coat, compact, that has coarse texture and tail is docked.

Temperament: The Rottweiler is a breed that loves to work because they have a lot of energy and stamina. This breed are calm and very devoted to their owner and family. They are very trainable dog. Moreover, they are very protective, strong fighter, pain resistant dog . Early Proper training is required for this breed for them to develop good manners and obedience. They could be a friendly, loving and loyal dog if trained well. They are considered giant dog so owners should know how to control them. This breed is very smart and an excellent guard dog. Also, they enjoy a lot of socialization and companionship. That makes them feel happy with their life. They could be a good playmate for children too as long as they have undergone proper trainings. The Rottie is a born guard dog. They will do everything to protect their family against harm.

Activity: They could live in an apartment life as long as they could have sufficient exercise and also a daily walk or jog would be best for them. They are inactive indoors. Running in the an open area would make them enjoy. Running,bicycling, swimming and retrieving ball is their favorite activity.

Grooming: Their smooth and glossy coat is easy to groom. A once a week brushing would be best for them and be increased if they shed a lot. and bathe only when necessary. And they are an average shedder.

Health Problems: Their life span is around 9-10 years. Health problems includes: heart problems, eye diseases, bloat, thyroid problems, cancer, OCD, HD, seizures, and allergies.

Description: The Pomeranian is a small, elegant, attractive breed that has a fuzzy long coat. They have a bright, almond-shaped, dark eyes  with an intelligent expression. Their nose is dark or like the color of its coat. Teeth meet in scissors bite. Tail that is feathery that fans forward. there are a lot of a collar like around its neck as well as on the chest area.

Temperament: This breed is a very intelligent, lively, very loyal dog to its owner. If properly socialized, they could get adjust to its environment and gets along well with other dogs and household animals as well. They are so small in size that made them hesitate to attack other dogs. They are also a good watchdog creating an an alarm through their bark because they are inclined to be aloof to a stranger. They have also an attitude to be demanding. Moreover, they are alert, curious and busy. Considered as a very independent among toy breeds. They can get along well with older children. And a good companion too for elderly, are picky eaters. Smart,happy dogs, easy to train. Its liveliness  makes them attract other people who do not usually care for toy dogs.

Activity: The Pomeranian is good for apartment living. They need a daily walk and playing that serves as their exercise. Very active indoors.

Grooming: The Pom’s double coat should be brushed always from head, parting the coat and brush forward so it will look neat and fluffy. They shed once or twice per year. Dry shampoo them and clean their eyes and ears everyday and have them a regular dental check ups. This breed is a constant shedder.

Health Problems: Life span is around 12-16 years. There are a number of health problems for this breed: cataracts, PRA, low blood sugar, entropion, luxating patella, PDA, collapsing trachea, and allergies.

Pekingese

Pekingese Description: The Pekingese is like a toy dog, who’s playful, alert and active They are very smart dog. Their head are broad that has an attractive, dark eyes, but prone to infection since their hair tend to flow through their eyes. Their face are dark in color compared to its hair emphasizing its looks, flat heart-shaped with a long hairy ears up to its heck and whole body. Their coat is long and straight, with a coarse topcoat and a dense undercoat. Called a “lion dog” because of his lustrous mane.

Temperament: Pekingese are just a small dog but very brave,also courageous, independent and sensitive breed. Very affectionate to their owner. But they tend to show their supremacy over their owner especially when feeding time making them difficult to feed when lack of appetite. And when overfed, they can easily be overweight. A lot of time and attention should be made for them because they are very attached to their owners.thus making them possessive as well as their food, and could also be jealous. They feel good to relax and and comfort when all the attention are given to them. They are a very sensitive kind of breed so shouting and being rough at them would make them feel bad. Thus, taking care of Pekingese needs a lot of patience. They are playful but not recommended to children who is too rough. They could be a good watchdog because they too bark a lot In addition, they could be polite to strangers eventhough some can be very suspicious of them. Socialization at an early age would do good for them to be able to get along well with other dogs.

Activity: Pekingese needs a daily walk as well as playing is also a form of an exercise for them. Moreover, they would also enjoy running in a safe open yard but should be trained earlier to be familiar and adjust to the leash for their protection. They are good in an apartment life.

Grooming: This is very important for them because they need to be combed and brushed thoroughly since they have a very long, double coat. These breed is an average shedder. An extra care on its hindquarters is much required, to avoid becoming solid and matted. They need dry shampoo on a regular basis, clean face and eyes daily to prevent infection and check hairy feet for burrs and objects that stick there.

Health Problems: The life expectancy of the Pekingese is around 12-15 years, and some health issues to look out for are: spinal problems, luxating patella, dry eye, and heatstroke in very hot conditions.
