Ibizan Hound
AKA: Podenco Ibicenco, Ibizan Warren Hound, Ibizan Podenco
Description: Ibizan Hound is breed that’s full of energy, very active and alert always. They have an athletic build and attractive. A breed that is tall and slim. They have 2 types of hair there is smooth ones and other is wire type. But the most common on this breed is the smooth type of hair. Well known of their elegant look. Their ears are triangular in shape and set high. They have long head and neck. Nose comes in a color of either pink or flesh. Their body is lean but muscular. Tail is long but not set high unless they are on their alert mode. Dewclaws may either be removed or just maintain as it is.
Temperament: This breed could be considered good pets but could also be sensitive at times. They should be trained on socialization to teach them how to get along well with other dogs and to the people around them. They too are an intelligent breed, a fast learner dog but needs a lot of patience from their owner since they have tendency to be bored. Must be treated well especially during trainings, owners must be sensitive with the tone of their voice when dealing with this breed because they are much sensitive with it. They are hunters so they could be a good watchdog. Moreover, they are a very sports minded dog since they like a lot of sports and they get to blush when they feel excited on something. Proper handling of them is really very important to be able to control them and not develop bad behavior.
Activity: They should have daily exercise like walking and jogging. They enjoy playing around, retrieving things when being trained well and enjoy running around a safe area.
Health: They are a very strong and active breed but also prone to allergies with drugs, fleas and powder,nerve and muscle disease like seizures. Life span is about 10-12 years.
Grooming: An occasional brushing is needed for all types of their hair, either wired, or smooth. Ears must be kept clean always to prevent infections bathe them only when necessary. They are just an average shedder.

Dynamics: in 700- 900 BC they were brought from egypt to spain then they are very well known in Ibiza that most of the people liked this breed, that they work to hunt small creatures around. Then later in the year 1979 was acknowledge by the AKC.
