English Setter

Description: English Setter breed are slim and fine look. Coat is flat with a little feathering in either long or short length. There are two types of this breed: The Hunting type which has short length coat and the Show type that has long length coat. They have different spotted coat colors known as belton that comes in blue, orange or tri-colors. Their head is long and proportion to their body, eyes are big, nose is dark colored and tail set high especially when they are alert. Muzzle is square in shape with skull oval shaped and medium in size.

Temperament: They are considered gentle in nature, friendly very affectionate too but could also be stubborn and harmful at times. They needed a lot of activity because they are very playful and full of energy always. They needed to be given enough attention by their owner for them not to feel bored. They are intelligent an breed therefore easy to train as long as they would not be destructed with other people around them. They can be sensitive especially when they fail on their trainings. They must be given a thorough training until they could master the task being trained to them.

Activity: They like to play around and needed to have daily exercise like brisk walking and jog or run around in an open but safe area for them to be free and regain their energy.

Health: They could suffer hip dysplasia and females could have false pregnancies. This breed should be fed just according to their capacity to prevent over feeding since they could easily gain weight.

Grooming: They are an average shedder so they only need to be brushed and no heavy grooming required for this breed. Bathe them only when needed.

Description: The English Pointer breed is born a hunter, therefore they have an athletic build, graceful, dynamic and highbred. They could be easily distinguished through their feet, head and tail. Their skull is regularly wide like their muzzle, jaws are leveld and square in shape with a scissors bite. Ears are level with ears and pointed on edge. They have dark and rounded eyes.Also, they have a well muscled neck, tail is docked and feet are rounded. And coat is soft, well compact and short.

Temperament: This breed is an even tempered, they are very faithful and affectionate to their owner. Their attacking attitude is very low even they too could sometimes be aloof. They could socialize with other dogs as well as with cats and goes along well with children. They are big in size so they have a very fearful bark. Pointers are a very loving pet, full of energy and intelligent. They are easy to train because they are a very calm dog. In addition, even they are a very friendly dog, they needed to undergo socialization training on early age for them to be more trained and owners should also be strong for them to bypass timidity.

Activity: They should have their daily walks and exercise to keep them physically and mentally strong. They are born hunter so they need to have more power and energy.

Health: They could suffer hip dysplasia, thyroid,skin problems and dwarfism. Their life span is about 13-14 years.

Grooming: They do not require heavy grooming since their coat is short. A daily daily brushing would be good for them and bathe if necessary. However, since they are a hunter they should be dried down very well after hunting to prevent from feeling cold.

French Pointing Dog

French Pointing DogDescription: The French Pointing Dog is a medium-sized pointing dog with muscular features and a round head. Its nose is the same color as its coat and its eyes are big with the color of hazel or dark amber. Its ears are slightly set at eye level hanging down.

The body of the French Pointing Dog is solid, wide, and muscular. Its chest is wide and deep, and its ribs are well-sprung and rounded. The tail is set low and short. Sometimes, the tail is naturally absent. The forelegs are straight, and both legs are well-constructed.

Dynamics: The French Pointing Dog is an affectionate dog with a calm personality. It is only when hunting and running around when its passion and vigor is clearly seen. The Braque du Bourbonnais is intelligent and quick to learn. It can adapt quickly to any terrain and condition. It is also very cooperative and agreeable, which makes it an excellent hunting and companion dog.

The French Pointing Dog is a people-oriented dog and likes to be with its family at all times. It can also get along well with other breeds.

Other Info: The French Pointing Dog has a life expectancy of 13-15 years. It is generally healthy, but still prone to hip dysplasia, ectropion eyes, and pulmonic stenosis of the heart. The French Pointing Dog is not fit to live in an apartment. It may be people-oriented but it is an active breed which is bred for hunting and outdoors.

Flat-Coated Retriever

Flat-Coated RetrieverDescription: The Flat-Coated Retriever is a sporting breed that has a medium-length thick coat. It has a long head with a wide muzzle and a slight stop. The nose is black or liver, with respect to its coat color. The ears are hanging flat against its head. The eyes are a dark brown or hazel, and the teeth meet in a scissors bite. The body consists of a deep chest and a squarely strong short back. The tail is normally hung low, but can be raised when the Flat-Coated Retriever is excited or alert.

Dynamics: The Flat-Coated Retriever has a stable, calm, and friendly temperament. It is sweet and playful, gentle and cheerful. It is excellent with children and welcomes guests with affection. It also gets along with other dogs and pets. It is very sociable.

It is also an intelligent breed, and is easy to train. Its playful and active nature may make the Flat-Coated Retriever easily bored though, so the training sessions has to be short and fun. The Flat-Coated Retriever is an excellent bird dog and swimmer, and has an excellent sense of smell.

Grooming: Brushing and combing the coat once a week is enough to groom the Flat-Coated Retriever.

Other Info: The Flat-Coated Retriever has an average life expectancy of 10 years. Health issues include cancer (common in this breed), hip dysplasia, PRA, CHD, epilepsy, and diabetes. The Flat-Coated Retriever is not recommended to live in an apartment. It prefers to be in a place where it can live inside and play outside.

Description: Clumber Spaniel is a giant breed, with broad and deep muzzle, skull is flat. Clumber’s coat is straight, flat, compact and soft to touch. They have muscular neck,Forelegs are straight,eyes is large, deep set that comes in dark amber color showing an affectionate expression. The ears is triangular in shape with rounded tip, wide on top that has dense ear leather. Nose are square shaped, large and comes in beige, rose and cherry. Their tail is hairy too and set below the line of their back.
Clumbers are a very popular dog among shooting men since they are known as a hunter as well. They are the keenest among the hunters.

Temperament: Climber Breed is known as the gundog but not as quick as they are. They belong to good retrievers and be improved more of trained. They are affectionate, smart and calm dog. However, they could also be aloof with strangers. Unlike other reserved breeds, they could easily get along well with people also with other animals. Moreover, they are not assertive and could play as guardian to children around them.

Activity: Like other breeds, they too needed a daily exercise and daily walk specifically brisk walking. They could live in an apartment life. In addition, they love bicycling and ball chasing to keep them fit, strong and avoid being overweight.

Health: Health problems for this breed includes: panosteitis (or juvenile lameness), and hip dysplasia, cataracts, dry eyes, and entropion also skin desease and flea. Take good care of them since they tend to swallow extrinsic objects. And do not overfeed them. Life span is about 10-12 years.

Grooming: Hair must be trimmed for those long haired one. And comb regularly to avoid shedding and tangle. Also, keep their eyes and ears clean always to avoid infection.
