German Wirehaired Pointer

Description: The German Wirehaired Pointer breed is a ruggedly looking dog, with a flat, rough undercoat. Moreover, their hairy undercoat is flexible for any type of weather compact on cold season and thins out during warm season. It means they could protect them in any weather conditions. Also, their tail is docked. They are deep chested but a very strong breed, muscular, firm and has good posture.

Temperament: This breed is a very loving, loyal, athletic and smart dog. They always show interest to learn things being taught and trained to them as long as their owner has enough patience and knows how to train properly. They enjoy working for their owner. They could also be harsh to strangers and friendly to those people they are familiar with. They must undergo socialization training at an early age for them to learn to adjust with the people around them. They are a very active dog and always full of energy. They have special talent when it comes to their sense of smell that they could easily track things through their nose may it be in land or water. They could also be a good watchdog with their energy and alertness.

Activity: They always enjoy roaming around. They are also required to have a daily exercise and a long brisk walk for them to regain their energy since they are a hardworking kind of breed.

Health: They are prone to hip dysplasia, ear infections, genetic eye disease and skin cancers.Life span is about 12-14 years.

Grooming: They are not heavy shedder breed. They just needed to be brushed at least twice a week and should be plucked with hands only on an occasional basis. Ears and feet should also be checked thoroughly to keep them away fro infections. Bathe them only when necessary.

Hungarian Wire-Haired Pointing Dog

250px-DrahthaarvizslaDescription: The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog is a medium-sized dog with a sturdy and muscular body. The head is made up of a moderately wide skull and a moderate stop. The muzzle is squared at the end. The jaws are powerful, forming a scissors bite. The nose is brown, and the eyes are just a shade darker than its coat (yellow or black eye are not preferred). The ears are proportionately long and hanging.

The neck is muscular and arched, without a dewlap. The chest is broad and deep. The front legs are straight, while the hind legs are moderately angled by the thighs. The feet are catlike. The tail is thick, carried horizontally when moving.

The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog’s hair varies in length. On the head, the hair is short and rough. There is longer hair on the muzzle, forming a beard. The eyebrows are pronounced by slightly long hair. Longer and finer hair is also present on the ears. Hair is also longer on the body. Hair on the forelimbs are short and rough.

Dynamics: The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog is lively, affectionate, and has a gentle temperament. It is also intelligent, sensitive, and obedient. Training is easy but it has to be consistent and firm. The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog may also be willful, but it is loyal and protective of its owner and family. This breed can get along well with children, and can generally get along with other breeds. Socialization is needed for the Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog to adapt to any situation and environment. This breed is known as chewers.

Country of Origin: The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog was created in the 1930s. A thick-coated Vizsla was crossed with a German Wire-haired Pointer, and the result was the Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog. The breed was developed by mr. Vasas Jozsef.

Activities: The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog has a huge amount of stamina. It requires long walks and exercises. Its talents include tracking, retrieving, pointing, watchdogging, and competitive obedience.

Grooming: The wire-haired coat of the Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog is rough and hard. It needs to be brushed with a bristle brush. Dry shampoo occasionally. Keep the nails clipped.

Other Info: The Hungarian Wire-haired Pointing Dog has a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years. It is not recommended to live in an apartment.

English Toy Spaniel

Description: The English Toy Spaniel is a perfect toy dog, small with regular length hair, and has firm built. They have short, black nose like that of a pug. Their head is shaped like a dome . Its head is well rounded in shape, as well as their dark eyes expressing their affection to their owner. They have rounded long hairy ears set low near their head. Their muzzle is short, have square and wide jaw, bite is moderately undershot not showing its teeth. Tail is docked and carried just level on its back. Coat is soft, shiny and plumy all over their body, that come in various colors.

Temperament: This breed has a very sweet temperament. They are a loving pet dog, intelligent and very sweet. They are a very quite companion kind of dog and a medium barker therefore not suitable to be a guard or watch dog since they are very friendly and polite towards strangers. They don’t need much socialization training since they are considered everybody’s pet dog. Playful, affectionate and loves to be with everybody but sometimes has bad attitudes too. They are loyal to their owner too. And would choose to be with them always. They love children and other dogs as well. In some unforeseen ways, you’d just be surprise that they could show off and entertain people.

Activity: They are required to have daily walk to lead them away to behavioral problems and increase their energy and be healthy. Also, they would enjoy playing and frolic around in a wide but safe area.

Health: They are prone to respiratory ailments, heart disease , slipped stifle, eye problems and ear infections. Ears and eyes should be kept clean always to avoid infection. Their life span is about 10-12 years.

Grooming: They only require less grooming as long as they should be brushed well to prevent mats and tangles especially on their ears,eyes and feet. This breed is not a heavy shedder.

English Setter

Description: English Setter breed are slim and fine look. Coat is flat with a little feathering in either long or short length. There are two types of this breed: The Hunting type which has short length coat and the Show type that has long length coat. They have different spotted coat colors known as belton that comes in blue, orange or tri-colors. Their head is long and proportion to their body, eyes are big, nose is dark colored and tail set high especially when they are alert. Muzzle is square in shape with skull oval shaped and medium in size.

Temperament: They are considered gentle in nature, friendly very affectionate too but could also be stubborn and harmful at times. They needed a lot of activity because they are very playful and full of energy always. They needed to be given enough attention by their owner for them not to feel bored. They are intelligent an breed therefore easy to train as long as they would not be destructed with other people around them. They can be sensitive especially when they fail on their trainings. They must be given a thorough training until they could master the task being trained to them.

Activity: They like to play around and needed to have daily exercise like brisk walking and jog or run around in an open but safe area for them to be free and regain their energy.

Health: They could suffer hip dysplasia and females could have false pregnancies. This breed should be fed just according to their capacity to prevent over feeding since they could easily gain weight.

Grooming: They are an average shedder so they only need to be brushed and no heavy grooming required for this breed. Bathe them only when needed.

French Pointing Dog

French Pointing DogDescription: The French Pointing Dog is a medium-sized pointing dog with muscular features and a round head. Its nose is the same color as its coat and its eyes are big with the color of hazel or dark amber. Its ears are slightly set at eye level hanging down.

The body of the French Pointing Dog is solid, wide, and muscular. Its chest is wide and deep, and its ribs are well-sprung and rounded. The tail is set low and short. Sometimes, the tail is naturally absent. The forelegs are straight, and both legs are well-constructed.

Dynamics: The French Pointing Dog is an affectionate dog with a calm personality. It is only when hunting and running around when its passion and vigor is clearly seen. The Braque du Bourbonnais is intelligent and quick to learn. It can adapt quickly to any terrain and condition. It is also very cooperative and agreeable, which makes it an excellent hunting and companion dog.

The French Pointing Dog is a people-oriented dog and likes to be with its family at all times. It can also get along well with other breeds.

Activities: The French Pointing Dog is a hunting dog so it naturally prefers to be outdoors. Lots of exercises and time outdoors is needed for this breed.

Grooming: Brush and bathe only when necessary. The ears should be checked regularly and the nails trimmed.

Other Info: The French Pointing Dog has a life expectancy of 13-15 years. It is generally healthy, but still prone to hip dysplasia, ectropion eyes, and pulmonic stenosis of the heart. The French Pointing Dog is not fit to live in an apartment. It may be people-oriented but it is an active breed which is bred for hunting and outdoors.
