Landseer

AKA: Landseer Newfoundland

Description: The Landseer is a tall and powerful-looking dog. It has a well-balanced body, giving out an elegant and agile yet hardy aura about itself. It has a wide muzzle, although a little short and squarely. The ears are triangular and pendant. The eyes are dark brown, with their conjunctiva not shown.

The Landseer’s legs are longer than that of the Newfoundland, and the feet are webbed for when it goes swimming. The coat is long, water-repellant, oily, and slightly wavy. The top coat is straight and dense and with a good undercoat. The tail hangs down.

Dynamics: The Landseer is a dog of patience and outstanding temperament. It is a generous and intelligent breed, and is most often described as calm, loyal, trustworthy, and dignified. It is a very devoted dog, loyal to its master, and it welcomes any person, dog, or any animal that bears no ill intention. It is also very good with children, playful even. It is a very sociable dog but it has to be socialized since puppyhood, of course. The Landseer can also be protective. It gets between an intruder and its family, and will act on its own when it sees the family being threatened.

The Landseer likes getting wet. It drinks a lot of water and can be messy with it. It also likes to swim and play in the water. This breed has the energy of its size and can be slightly difficult to train. It is also very sensitive to the tone of voice used on it. Training this dog has to be in a calm and balanced manner.

Color: The color of the Landseer’s coat is a clear white with black patches. The collar, the chest, belly, legs, and tail are white, while the head is black with a white muzzle.

Country of Origin: The Landseer originates from Germany and Switzerland. The United States and Great Britain consider the Landseer as the same breed as the Newfoundland, which has some roots in Canada and England.

Activities: Its huge body makes it move slow, but the Landseer still has enough energy to play, swim, and frolic. This dog is content to rest and sleep, but it still needs to be given daily walks outside.

Grooming: Bathe only when necessary but brush the thick double coat regularly. Use dry shampoo when bathing from to time.

Other Info: The Landseer has a life expectancy of 10 years. It is prone to a lot of diseases like hip dysplasia and hereditary heart disease sub-aortic stenosis (SAS). This breed is also sensitive to heat and prefers cool climates, so give them plenty of shade and cool water.

Labrador Husky

Labrador HuskyDescription: The Labrador Husky is a spitz type of breed that is often thought to be a mixed breed but it is actually a purebred. This breed resembles a Siberian Husky, with its round head covered with thick and fluffy hair. The muzzle tapers, narrowing to its nose. The medium-sized body aerodynamic, equipping them with speed and flexibility. Their whole body is covered with fluffy hair and is double-coated.

Dynamics: The Labrador Husky can be unpredictable temperament. With good socialization, this breed can get along well with children. They are reserved with strangers, though, and can even become aggressive with them. It should be watched among small animals and non canine household pets, too.

The Labrador Husky is bred to work well in a pack, and it is happy to work with other dogs. This breed is intelligent and can naturally learn things quickly. The Labrador Husky should not be left alone bored because it may get restless and become destructive.

Activities: This breed needs to have a long walk, exercises, or work to do. Its strong body and working energy are used to always be in motion. The Labrador Husky is a sled dog and it is essential for them to go outdoors and make long walks.

Grooming: Regular brushing is needed for grooming the Labrador Husky and to remove loose and dead hair. This breed sheds once a year. Bathe only when necessary.

Newfoundland

AKA: Newfie, NewfNewfoundland

Description: The Newfoundland is a giant, strong, thickly coated breed. They have a small dark brown eyes and has a small triangular ears with black nose except for the bronze colored dogs that has brown nose. Their feet makes them a good swimmer.with tails hanging down. His coat is compact,rough and flat and is a water resistant. Its coat mostly comes in black, sometimes with a little mix of white.

Temperament: This Breed has an prominent temper. They are good, courageous, intelligent, generous and patient dogs. They could be trusted, very loyal and protective too that made them become so attached to their owner. Moreover, like humans, they are brave brave enough, they are independent in their own way but sometimes has an attitude to put himself in a position between the intruder and his family instead of barking. They are a friendly dog as long as they know or sense that you don’t have any bad intentions. Because they are very sensitive they can determine some bad situations. He is even a born babysitter and is also very sociable, playful and loves children. They can socialize well with other animals. An indoor breed, that  loves and enjoys water so much. That’s why they love to get wet.

Activity: They are an indoor breed but needs a lot of exercise daily. Because of their thick coat, they could easily feel the heat. That is why they needed to be in a shaded area and drink lots of water. They go for cool climate . Swimming is their favorite activity to do.

Grooming: A Newfie needs to be brushed properly preferably a couple of time in a week,to avoid heavy shedding. They shed a lot during spring and autumn thus, an extra care is required. Avoid bathing when its not necessary to avoid strip taking away the natural oil on its coat.

Health Problems: Their Life span is 9 – 10 years. Health problems for newfies are: bloat, SAS, entropion, thyroid problems, ectropion, OCD, HD, heart problems, allergies, skin conditions, and heatstroke in humid or hot conditions.

Labrador Retriever

Description: This kind of breed has two types, the English Labrador that is from bred stock and is bigger, heavier and thicker, and the American Labrador from American bred stock that is tall and lean. The Labrador Retriever is a very active, alert breed and strong breed. They have a muscular built. Their fur is smooth and thick all over that also varies in color may it be black,yellow or chocolate brown. Among them, mostly yellow is the common and popular color. Labs’ ears are drop and medium in length with a brown or black thick nose and a scissors bite. The eyes has smart expression with its hazel or chestnut color. Also, its tail is strong and hairy and Their muzzle is slightly wide with a strong built neck.

Temperament: Labrador Retrievers are a very smart and intelligent dog. Easy to train breed, with pleasant personality. A very devoted, loving and hardworking dog. Labrador retrievers are considered as guide dogs as well as sniffer dog able to detect some harmful objects like drugs and especially explosives. Labs are also very playful and loves to swim. They are also an ideal pet, they are outgoing and always enjoy with their human companion. They are also alert but very friendly therefore they couldn’t be an ideal guard dog. Moreover, they too loves water and easy to train especially enjoy carrying things through their mouth. Labrador breed are not too aggressive like any other breeds because they are a good tempered dog.

Activity: They are active outdoor Very playful dog who loves ball and water that is why they enjoy to swim. A long daily walk and jog would be best for this breed. They have good appetite therefore they are required to have regular exercise to avoid being overweight.

Grooming: Labs requires not a very heavy grooming since they have short hair unless they shed heavily but only during its season. Weekly brushing and combing should be done for them to prevent matting. Bathe only when necessary.

Health Problems: Eye problems, HD and elbow dysplasia, CMO, thyroid problems, vWD, diabetes, PRA, OCD, allergies, seizures, and heart problems. The life expectancy of the Labrador Retriever is around 10-12 years.
