Description: The Canis Panther is considered as the ultimate pet protector because they are strong and very muscular breed that has a broad chest and jaw with a fine nose. Their ears are cropped, tail is docked and rear dews removed. They have short-haired coat with a variety of colors like chocolate, black, fawn, and blue gray.

Temperament: This breed is a very loyal as well as devoted to its owner and could be the best protector at all times. An intelligent breed, easy to train that its handler wouldn’t had a hard time during their trainings. Also, they are a loving dog especially to the family. Canis Panther excels in areas of obedience and agility too. When it comes to socialization, if trained they could be friendly to others and to children although a supervision is required since large breed dogs is not best for children. They are very sensitive to strangers and defensive-minded especially when they could sense some bad intentions towards their owner and family.

Activity: Canis Panther requires a large yard for them to run and most importantly, they should be taken for a walk daily

Grooming: They have smooth ad short hair so it’s not difficult to groom.

Description: The Scottish Terrier is a small, compact, short-legged, sturdily-built dog of good bone and substance. Their head is long in proportion to its size. They have a hard, wiry, weather-resistant coat and a thick-set, cobby body which is hung between short, heavy legs.

They have dark almond-shaped eyes and neck that is moderately short, strong, thick and muscular, blending smoothly into well laid back shoulders. It must never be so short as to appear clumsy. The body is moderately short with ribs extending well back into a short, strong loin, deep flanks and very muscular hindquarters. The thighs are very muscular and powerful for its size with the stifles well bent and the legs straight from hock to heel. Hocks are well let down and parallel to each other.

Temperament: The Scottish dog is alert and spirited but also stable and steady-going. A determined and thoughtful dog whose “heads up, tails up” attitude in the ring should convey both fire and control. The Scottish Terrier, is very loving and gentle with people but also can be aggressive with other dogs. They are charming and full of character. They posses an unusual variable behavior and has mood swings. They could sometimes be stubborn so they should be handled in a gentle, and firm way as early as possible or they might dominate the household. Never attempt to jit them and do not play aggressive game with them. They love to play ball games. They are also lively and intelligent easy to train. And has a reliable temperament. But they will only be attached to one or two people and has no interest in anyone outside its own human family. Like other breeds, they can also be a good watchdog that could bark to some strangers. He is not particularly sociable around strangers, and tends to be wary around them, which adds to his watchdog abilities.

Activity: This breed is also good for apartment living and only moderately active indoors. They needed a daily walk and play around that would be a best form of exercise for them. Because dogs who lack daily walks would display behavior problems and it would be okay for them without a yard.

Grooming: Brushing regularly of their harsh wiry coat would be best for them. They shed little to no hair. But should be taken an extra care when they shed. Bathe or dry shampoo when necessary. And they should be trimmed twice a year only the hair on its face should be lightly trimmed and hair on their body be left long like a skirt.

Health Problems: Their life span is around 12-14 years. They are a healthy breed in general. So they only have a few health issues to worry about : thyroid problems, cancer, allergies, luxating patella, and seizures.

Schipperke

Description: The Schipperke is a small, sturdily built breed who looks a as mischievous as they are. Their body is short, compact and tail-less. Its head is shaped like a fox. its dark brown eyes are small and oval shaped with an erect, small ears, that add to their alert expression. And nose that is always black. Teeth meet in scissors bite. The chest should be wide reaching to the elbows. They have a dense coat with a harsh texture, and the hair on his neck and shoulders is slightly longer giving the appearance of a ruff. And the only acceptable color for them according to the Belgians is black.

Temperament: Affectionate, alert and loyal, the Schipperke is a kind of breed that a has a lot of character and personality. They are playful and energetic breed. These dogs are best suited to those with some experience of dog ownership, as they can be mischievous, stubborn, and even manipulative. For an effective training, an assertive and confident owner would be best for them. They are highly intelligent thus, training for them is an easy task. Due to their alertness, they bark to raise an alarm that would make them an effective watchdog. They are wary of strangers and may seem somewhat aloof, but are actually very devoted and loyal, especially with children. These dogs are devoted and love to be around people, making them entertaining and loving family pets. The Schipperke is a born climber and digger, and therefore needs proper supervision and a safe, secure place to play and exercise when not on a leash. An early socialization is requires for them to be stable and develop sociable attitude. He could be friendly to house pets like cats and his fellow dogs but may chase some strange animals and not be trusted with smaller creatures especially those that are caged. Nevertheless, Schipperke could also be a good companion and pet if they are properly trained and handled by the right owner.

Activity: The Schipperke are active and tireless breed. To be happy and stable may it be physically or mentally, they require a long walk or jog daily. They enjoy playing and running. Running would the best exercise for them everyday.

Description: The Samoyed are the breed with a muscular and hardworking body. They are a friendly, good natured family pet. They are a medium to large in size. He has a beautiful double coat, which is dense and soft underneath with a harsh outer coat. Its head is in powerful wedge shaped with a black or brown nose and strong jaws. They have a dark, oblique deep eyes with medium sized ears, slightly rounded and carried erect. The full haired tail is long and slightly rounded at the point. Its feet are hairy and flat. He has a beautiful double coat, which is dense and soft underneath with a harsh outer coat.

Temperament: This breed are gentle dogs. Peaceable and dignified. Very devoted, they tend to favor one person, but love everyone. They are easy-going, friendly and quite playful. It will gladly be friendly to all, including intruders. They are too friendly to be of much use as a watchdog, although its bark will alert you to the presence of strangers. It willingly adapts to family life and gets along well with children. They are highly intelligent, but often willfully resistant to formal obedience training. It eventually responds to firm, patient training, which should be started at an early age. Since it is accustomed to working in teams, its outstanding qualities often do not have the opportunity to be expressed. However when it becomes attached to a single master, it proves itself an outstanding, good-natured, lively, and sociable dog. It never seeks trouble but can handle an adversary if necessary. They have a reputation of being chewers and may become very destructive if left alone for many hours at a stretch. Samoyeds should not be trusted with small non-canine pets, however there are plenty of them that live and get along with family cats. This breed tends to bark a lot.

Activity: The Samoyed will be fine in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. It is very active indoors and a small yard. Their heavy coat makes these dogs unsuited to life in very hot climates. They needed enough amount of exercise, including a daily walk or jog. Take it easy during warm weather because the woolly undercoat inhibits loss of the heat built up during exercise.

Grooming: A thorough grooming is needed. They shed heavily by seasons. The fluffy double coat needs frequent brushing, but tends to stay white without bathing.

Health Problems: The life expectancy of the Samoyed is around 12-15 years. Although the Samoyed is a relatively healthy breed, there are some health problems they might suffer: diabetes, cataracts, thyroid problems, HD, PRA, and allergies. Description: The Saint Bernard is muscular and strong breed. Their face and ears are commonly shaded with black and with intelligent and gentle expression. This breed comes in both long haired and short haired varieties. Long haired has medium length coat, which is rough in texture and The short haired has close fitting coat, which is also rough touch. They have large feet that is strong, well-ached toes, making them sure-footed in snow as well as in ice. This breed has a highly developed sense of smell that also seem to have a sixth sense about an upcoming storms and avalanches.

Temperament: This breed are very friendly and gentle dog, very tolerant to children as well. A loyal pet to their owner also slow moving, obedient and slow moving kind of dog. They drool after they drink or eat. But as early as possible, they should be trained to socialize with other people. Training this breed is easy since they are highly intelligent breed as long as their training should start on their early age. But the important thing to set in mind is that an unruly dog of this size presents a problem for even a strong adult if it is to be exercised in public areas on a leash. Also, they could be a good watchdog because their bark could alarm strangers.

Activity: They need a daily long walk and a fair amount of exercise. An opportunity to play around in a safe area will help to keep them fit and healthy. Some of the areas the Saint Bernard may excel in include hauling, and search and rescue

Temperament: The Rottweiler is a breed that loves to work because they have a lot of energy and stamina. This breed are calm and very devoted to their owner and family. They are very trainable dog. Moreover, they are very protective, a strong fighter that is immune to pain. A firm and careful training is very essential for this breed it may end up in a powerful and very aggressive dog. If properly handled, they can also be loyal and loving companion. Owners of this breed must handle their massive size and because of their size, they should be trained earlier. hey are highly intelligent and have proven their worth beyond question in police, military, and customs work over many centuries. Description: The Pomeranian is a cute, dainty, pretty dog who has a fluffy long coat. Its eyes are bright,dark, almond shaped with an intelligent expression. Their nose is either dark or the color of its coat. Teeth meet in scissors bite. Their tail is like a feather that fans forward over the back and there are a lot of ruff around its neck and also the chest area.

Temperament: This breed is a very intelligent, lively, very loyal dog to its owner. If properly introduced, they could get along well with other dogs and household animals as well. But some of them think they are much larger than others and that they don’t hesitate to attack bigger dogs. They are also a good watchdog with an alarm of their bark because they have tendency to be reserved to a stranger. As well as demanding at times. Moreover, they are alert, curious and busy. One of the most independent among toy breeds. They can get along well with older children. And a good companion too for elderly and they are picky eaters too. A happy breed and easy to train. Its vivacity and spirit make it well-liked by persons who do not usually care for toy dogs. They may be picky eaters.

Pekingese Description: The Pekingese is an alert and intelligent cuddly toy dog. They have a broad head with a dark, lucid and a prominent eyes that is prone to infection if not properly cared. Its dark face that’s flat,heart shaped long feathering ears and neck that is short and thick. Their coat is long and straight, with a coarse topcoat and a dense undercoat. Called a “lion dog” because of his lustrous mane.

Temperament: They are a brave little dogs also courageous, independent and sensitive breed. Very affectionate to their owner. But they may be difficult to feed and has tendency to refuse eating to show dominance over its owner as to lack of appetite. And when overfed, they can easily be overweight. Owners should take a lot of time for them since they are so attached to their masters, can be possessive with their belongings as well as their food, and loving to the point of jealousy. They feel happy to just relax and feel the comfort bestowed upon him. Their breed is a very sensitive one thus its not proper to shout or be rough at them. Taking care of this breed requires a lot of patience. They are playful but not recommended to children who is too rough. They bark a lot so they could be a good watchdog. and could be a good companion dog. In addition, they could be polite to strangers eventhough some can be very suspicious of them. Early socialization would do best for them that could help them reach out to other animals.

Activity: Pekingese needs a daily walk as well as playing is also a form of an exercise for them. But playing alone is not a complete form of exercise that all breeds need. Dogs that do perform daily walks could suffer from behavior problems. Moreover, they would also enjoy running in a safe open yard but should be trained earlier to be accustomed to the leash for their protection. They are good in an apartment life.

Grooming: This is very important for them because they need to be combed and brushed thoroughly since they have a very long, double coat. These breed is an average shedder. An extra care around the hindquarters is important, which can become solid and matted. Dry shampoo regularly, clean face and eyes daily to prevent infection and check hairy feet for burrs and objects that stick there.

Description: The Newfoundland is a large, strong, heavily coated breed. They have a small dark brown eyes and has a small triangular ears with nose that is generally black except for the bronze colored dogs that has brown nose. With feet made to be the best swimmer and tails hanging down. His coat is coarse, dense, and flat, and has an oily feel, as it is water resistant. Its coat mostly comes in black, sometimes with a little mix of white.

Temperament: This Breed has an outstanding temperament. They are good, courageous, intelligent, generous and patient dogs. They could be trusted and very loyal and protective that made them become so attached to their owner that could make them difficult to adjust to a new home. Moreover, they are also brave and like humans, they could act on his own but sometimes tends to put himself in a situation between the intruder and his family instead of barking or growling. They are a friendly dog as long as they know or sense that you don’t have any bad intentions. Because they are very sensitive they can determine some bad situations. He is even a born babysitter and is also very sociable, playful and loves children. They can get along well with other animals. An indoor breed, drinks a lot of water and loves water so much. That’s why they love to get wet.

Activity: They are an indoor breed and could live in an apartment as long as they have sufficient exercise daily. Because of their heavily coated hair, they could easily feel the heat. That is why they needed to stay in a shaded area and give them cool water. They mostly prefer cool climates. They would always love to play and swim.

Grooming: A Newfie needs to be brushed properly at least a couple to times per week to prevent from heavy shedding. They shed all year round most especially during spring and autumn thus, an extra care is required during heavy shedding. Avoid bathing when its not necessary for them so as not to strip away its coat’s natural oil.

Basset Hound

Basset HoundDescription: The Basset Hound is a short-legged scent hound with a long body. Its head is large with a rounded skull and a pronounced occiput. The plane of the muzzle is parallel to the top of the skull. The skin falls in folds on the head, wrinkle-like. Its ears are very long and meet at the top of the nose. The ears should fold and not appear flat.

The Basset Hound has large teeth that gives a scissors or level bite. The eyes normally appear droopy and sad. The hound appears kind and gentle. The Basset has a pronounced dewlap and its chest is deep, extending in the front of the forelegs. Its paws are big and has round hindquarters.

Dynamics: The Basset Hound fits into family life easily, as it enjoys human interaction and is sweet, gentle, and naturally well-behaved. It is very affectionate with people and friendly with children. It likes to play with food at times. It has a deep musical bark but does not bite. Like all scent hounds, it can be hard to get their attention when they catch an interesting smell. But generally, it is obedient and will do well with patient training.

Activities: Exercises and daily walks are good for the Basset Hound, but be careful not to encourage it in jumping and stressing its front legs. The Basset Hound is always open to any play or game.

Grooming: There will not be much problem in grooming the Basset Hound as its coat is short and smooth. Shampoo only when necessary. Clean its ears and trim the toenails regularly.

Other Info: The Basset Hound’s life expectancy is about 10-12 years. Do not overfeed the Basset Hound because the extra weight will be a burden to the legs and spine. It is recommended that they be fed two to three small meals a day rather than one large one. The short legs and heavy long body may also contribute to a possible lameness and eventual paralysis if not careful.

The Basset Hound is okay living in an apartment since they are inactive indoors. But give them an opportunity to run outside and they will run for hours.
