German Spitz

Description: The German Spitz breed is known to belong under spitz subtype, has different sizes the toy type,medium and the giant type. This breed has 5 types: The Giant german spitz,medium/standard german spitz, small miniature, keeshond and pomeranian. They also come in different color but usually their standard color is white,only the small types has different color combinations. Their head is round and looks like that of a wolf, They have double coat and their ears are set high and pointed. They also have smooth long and straight hair. They also have rounded, brown eyes with a look like the pomeranian.
By history, they are from the stone age and considered as the oldest breed in central europe and until they were brought to america and was called American Eskimo since there were anti-german issue that time.

Temperament: They are an affectionate and very intelligent dog. They always want to catch the attention of everybody around them that is why they hate to be alone. But, They are a heavy barker especially with animals they see and to strangers around them. They needed to be trained with socialization because they are not a friendly dog. A thorough training and needs a lot of patience for this breed is required.

Activity: They too require a daily walk and jog to lessen their behavioral problem and to keep their energy and be healthy.

Health: No known diseases for this breed thay only needed ample amount of exercise since they could easily become fat. Their life span is about 13-15 years.

Grooming: Even they have fluffy hair, less grooming is required for them. Brush them only once in a week.

Color: black to white and in shades of cream, brown, orange, sable, gold and blue.

Dynamics: This breed is a very intelligent dog, a barker but not a friendly type of dog so they needed a thorough training. As mentioned earlier, they could be classify into 5 types according to their sizes too. They too comes in a herding group in germany that was spread out to europe.

Hungarian Kuvasz

250px-Kuvasz_Prince_Juninho_PosterDescription: The Hungarian Kuvasz is a majestic and muscular sheepdog that has a fine bone structure and sturdy body. It is rectangularly proportional, longer than it is tall. It has a medium-length coat, either straight or wavy. The skin is dark despite having white hair. The hair on the head and feet is short, while it is abundant around the neck, chest, and tail. The coat is even much fuller in the winter. The tail is carried low but is raised when the Kuvasz is excited. Dewclaws on the hind legs should be removed.

The head is also finely boned and structured. The nose, the lips and inside the mouth are black. The ears are folded and hanging close to the head. The eyes are almond-shaped and dark brown.

Dynamics: The Hungarian Kuvasz is an intelligent and brave sheepdog. It is also very protective and territorial. Its devotion to its family keeps it determined to protect and defend its people and territory. It can be willful and stubborn at times though, showing its independent side. Training the Hungarian Kuvasz will require a firm but gentle hand, and consistency.

Socialization is also important starting from puppyhood. The Hungarian Kuvasz can get along well with children if raised with them. It will be gentle and patient with the owner’s children, but may be suspicious of others. It is reserved and cautious of strangers. It also has the tendency to be annoyed with other animals. Dominance and aggression over another dog is common with this breed.

Weight: males 100-115 pounds (45-52kg), females 70-90 pounds (32-41kg)

Height: males 28-30 inches (71-76cm), females 26-28 inches (66-71 cm)

Color: The skin of the Hungarian Kuvasz is generally dark, and the darker the better. The coat, however, is always white. Ivory coats are rare and not acceptable on shows.

Country of Origin: The Hungarian Kuvasz comes from Hungary, where its popularity was at it peak back during King Matthias Corvinus’ reign. This breed was almost extinct during WWII but was revived.

Activities: The Hungarian Kuvasz need regular exercise and has the need to work always. It serves as a flock guardian, herder, and as a companion dog.

Grooming: The Hungarian Kuvasz’ thick coat should be brushed regularly. Avoid bathing it; instead rub talcum powder or cornstarch into the coat and brush it out. Check behind the ears for matting.

Other Info: The Hungarian Kuvasz has a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years. It is prone to common health issues like hip dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans (due to inflammation of shoulder joints), hypertrophic osteodystrophy, skin problems and allergies. The Hungarian Kuvasz is not suitable for the city or apartment life. It is at its best when it is on an open area. It should not be left alone too long as it may become destructive. It prefers cold climates and is uncomfortable in warm weather.

Description: The Hungarian Greyhound is a sighthound that is is used in hunting and tracking. It has an elegant and graceful body structure, with short and smooth coat. The neck is long and the chest is deep, narrowing towards the abdomen. The front legs are straight, while the hind legs are bending towards the rear. The tail is thin and is usually carried low.

The head of the Hungarian Greyhound is proportionately long, with only a slight stop. The ears are button-shaped and are raised halfway. The eyes are almond-shaped and have a gentle expression.

Dynamics: The Hungarian Greyhound is an affectionate and well-behaved breed. It has a gentle and calm temperament, quietly sweet and cautious. It gets along with children and other dogs, and is highly unlikely to attack and bite. It has the tendency to be reserved with people, especially with strangers. It is faithful and loyal to its owner. It is an intelligent breed, and is an excellent coursing dog.

Weight: 49-68 lbs

Height: 25-27 inches at the shoulders

Color: The Hungarian Greyhound comes in a variety of colors.

Country of Origin: The Hungarian Greyhound is considered to be originating in Hungary and Romania (specifically Transylvania), though it had only settled in the area with the Magyar tribe whom they traveled with. It is not well-known outside these countries.

Activities: The Hungarian Greyhound is used for hunting, coursing, and as a companion dog. Regular exercises or taking it outside for a walk will keep it fit and healthy.

Description: German Shorthaired Lab is a cross bred between the German shorthaired Pointer and Labrador Retriever. They are thin, but tall dog. They have shiny short and smooth coat that is waterproof. They ears are hanging. Strong jaw in scissors bite, They too are a very masculine type of dog and has varieties of color

Temperament: This breed is loving, loyal to their owner and very affectionate. They could also be a perfect pet dog. They also love to play around and could socialize with the people around them and even with other dogs. They could also be a guard dog and would bark to alarm when suspicious stranger would invade their home.

Activity: They are required for a daily walk and jog daily. They also love to play around in a safe yard and also enjoy playing with children.

Health: Like that of the labrador retrievers, they too could suffer frombone problems, heart and eye diseases.

Grooming: They have short and shiny hair so they don’t need heavy grooming. Brushing them on occasional basis and bathe them when necessary.

German Shepherd Dog

Description: German Shepherds are a big size kind of breed. That has a dome shaped forehead. They are known to have black nose and with brown eyes that is regular in size that expresses of being cheerful and smart dog. Their jaws are strong and in scissors bite. The ears are erected and large especially when they are alert, neck are long and are being lift up when they feel an excitement and carried low when they move. Their tail is fluffy and long. Their coat also varies in color that have black masks in those common colors like black or tan. They have double coat, outer is thick and undercoat is compact that also has two types the long and medium coat.

Temperament: This breed is known to be the third most intelligent among other breeds of dog. They have a record that they have great skills of intelligence that could follow simple tasks in just five repetitions and quickly learn to follow first commands. Moreover, they are a very strong breed an alert in all of their activities and during their trainings. They are always very eager to learn things being taught to them. They are also faithful to their owner and to the people familiar to them. But they are a territorial dog they always ensure the safety of their home thus, they may be very protective. That is why it is also recommended to train them on socialization so they could easily adjust to the people around them excluding strangers especially suspicious ones and to overcome their aloof attitude. They are an obedient dog that could not be disturbed in anything that they do.

Activity: German Shepherds loves tough activities like exercise, jog, run around in a safe yard and walking with owner. It is also best recommended of them to maintain their energy and avoid behavioral problems. Thus, it is very important for them to have daily exercise.

Health: They may suffer from their hereditary desease like hip and elbow dysplasia, digestive problems, blood disorders, epilepsy, eczema and allergies. Their life span is about 13 years.

Grooming: They are heavy shedder on a seasonal basis only. They require daily combing and be bathe when necessary specifically once or twice a year to avoid skin infections
