Bavarian Mountain HoundDescription: The Bavarian Mountain Hound has a head that is strong and elongated. The skull is relatively broad and there is a pronounced stop with a slight curve at the nosebridge. Its muzzle is broad. Its nose is black or dark red, with wide nostrils. The ears are high set and medium-sized, broad at the base and round at the tips.

The hound’s neck appears strong, with a slight dewlap. Its chest is well-developed with a slight tuck-up. The back is straight and solid. It carries its tail level to to the ground or hanging down.

Dynamics: The Bavarian Mountain Hound is a calm and poised hunting companion. It is serious when it comes to finding game and is courageous, fast, and agile, even on rugged terrains. A patient and experienced trainer is needed for this kind of dog.

Basset Artesian Normand

AKA: Artesian Norman Basset, Basset Artesiano de Normandia

Basset Artesian NormandDescription: The Basset Artesian Normand is a short, straight-legged hound with a a long body. It looks a little like a Basset Hound. It has a dome-shaped head and hairy cheeks. The eyes are large and has a serious touch. The ears are very obvious, very long and cone-shaped. The black nose protrudes slightly beyond the lips.

The hound’s neck is more like a dewlap with some wrinkles. Its chest is round and the tail ends with a saber curve. The Basset Artesian Normand also has very short coat.

Dynamics: The Basset Artesian Normand is described as courageous and headstrong, but good-natured and obedient. It is very easy to train and is very brave in a hunt. It has a very deep bark and may scare strangers. But the Basset Artesian Normand is warm and very gentle, especially with children. It has an excellent and very curious nose, and it may follow a stray scent so it has to be watched. It gets along with other breeds and can also get along with other animals if it has socialized with them when they are young.

Country of Origin: The Basset Artesian Normand originates back in Artois and Normandy, back in the 1600s. But today’s Basset Artesian Normand was bred by Leon Verrier in France. It was bred into a good companion dog at home as well as in hunts.

Activities: Daily walks are good for the Basset Artesian Normand, but be careful not to let it slip away when it smells something interesting.

Other Info: The Basset Artesian Normand’s life expectancy is around 13-15 years. For its grooming, just rub a rubber brush over its coat to remove excess hair. The coat is short so this is not a problem. Shampoo only when necessary and the ears must be cleaned regularly and the toenails clipped short. The Basset Artesian Normand can be raised in an apartment or a home with a small yard.

Afghan Retriever

Afghan Retriever

Description: Afgan Retriever is not a purebred,It is a cross between the Afghan Hound and the Golden Retriever. Their undercoat is wavy, thick and short. They also have some similarities with the golden retriever but their hair are more coarse in texture compared to the golden. They too has long face and small eyes and slightly long hair. They are also big in size with long hairy tail.

Temperament: They are an obedient dog. They have their own thinking and sometimes could be bossy type that may dominate other dogs.

Activity: They are required to to have lots of exercise daily to prevent bad behavior from boredom. Swimming and retrieving are their two most favorite activities. Also love field sports but they are slow learners.

Grooming: To remove dead and loose hair they should be brushed often on shedding time. But should also be aware not to harm the texture of their coat. Bathe them if it is only necessary.

Health Problems: Minor injuries, hip dysplasia and congenital eye defects and skin deseaase

Color: yellow-brown, and dark brown. The darker coloring is more usual

Height: 58-66cm(22 3/4 -26in) for dogs and 53-61cm (20 3/4 – 24in) for bitches

Dynamics: They are moderately intelligent and are slow learners but easy to train they are also friendly dogs, calm even on cats but to strangers. Also very active and playful always.
